Avacy for Google Consent Mode and IAB TCF
This page is for customers who use Google Consent Mode, alone or together with IAB TCF. It lists the steps in order. Each step links to the page with the details.
1. Turn on Google Consent Mode
New v3 webspaces already have Consent Mode on. Check it in Cookie Banner > Advanced settings. See Enabling Google Consent Mode support on Avacy.
2. If you use IAB TCF, check the Google switch
With IAB TCF, a switch lets Google read the consent from the IAB TCF string. It is on by default. See Let Google read consent from the IAB TCF string.
3. Choose Basic or Advanced
- In Basic, the Google tags wait for the consent of the user.
- In Advanced, the Google tags load at once and send cookieless pings.
Read the difference. To change the mode later, see Switching between Basic and Advanced.
4. Install Avacy
Choose the way that fits your site:
- Google Tag Manager: the Avacy CMP template;
- gtag.js without Google Tag Manager: Avacy snippet and, for Basic, marking of the Google scripts;
- WordPress plugin;
- HTML snippet.
5. Create a banner that meets Google's requirements
You build the banner from the dashboard, with no code. The Google Consent Mode preset gives you a text written for Google. See Banner that meets Google's requirements.
6. Check that it works
- Check the order of the Google tags with the debug mode: Debug mode and Google tag order.
- Check the order of the Google tags and the Google Tag Gateway: Google Tag Gateway and consent management.
- Check the consent signals with Google's Tag Assistant.
7. Get support
If something does not work, write to us first. See Support.
